NEWSLETTER

March 2017

Established 16th July 1981, the goal of the Balbriggan & District Historical Society is to promote an interest in the local history of Balbriggan and District through our regular talks series, publications, Historical walks and exhibitions – and to establish a Museum in the Balbriggan District.

Our regular talks take place on the last Wednesday of the month in the Town Hall in Balbriggan 8pm.

Please find below a list of our proposed talks for the first half of 2017:

March 29th Jim Walsh - Balbriggan Carnegie Free Library: It's design construction & development since 1905

April 26th Brian Arnold - Thomas Ashe The Revolutionary Teacher

May 31st Pádraig Yeates - Russian Revolution, Easter 1916 and Irish Labour History (provisional title)

We plan on having our Society Day Trip in June and this always proves very popular and also will have an Historical walk during Balbriggan Summer Fest on June 3rd.

Membership

Adults: €15 per person per annum.

Concessions (students & senior citizens): €10 per annum.

Family (2 adults + children under 18): €20 per annum.

Membership entitles adult members to vote at the AGM and gives FREE admission to ALL talks for 2017. (Children under 18 are not entitled to vote.)

Non-Society members can, of course, attend individual talks for an entrance fee of €5 (€3 for concessions) but, apart from the other benefits of membership, it is much better value to become a member than pay for each talk. Please note that the membership year matches the calendar year (January to December).
