BGC lift spirits and bring the Sunshine to Balbriggan.
Balbriggan Gospel Choir Preformed their uplifting repertoire to a packed SS Peter & Pauls Church Balbriggan. Invited by Balbriggan Parish to put together a concert for the choir members friends and family as part of the churches build up to this years World Meeting of Family.

Born out of a need to raise the spirits of a community Balbriggan Gospel Choir had their first opportunity to showcase the hard work that has been put in over the past for months. Individual members introduces each song and spoke of what the Choir has meant to them. They spoke of community and building new friendships, awaking talents they did not know they had. Many spoke of the feeling of being part of something special, putting in the weekly practice gave them a sense of belonging. Some of the choir members have have been touched by mental heath issues, personally and with family and friends.

At last nights concert each of the choir member wore a green ribbon as part of the See Change national Green Ribbon Campaign to encourage people in Ireland to end mental heath stigma. The choir is really busy this month and will also preform for the participants of Skerries Darkness Into Light this weekend.

Personally I thoroughly enjoyed it and am so grateful to Jayne, Edel and Sharon for convincing me to join. Even though I spent the whole day trying to pretend it wasn't happening. Once I got to the church I convinced myself I was there to watch. Then the warm up began and our man and director Dave Flood guided and led us through the preparations and the show started it was electric and like bees in a hive we were a collective all synced together for that hour. Afterward you feel euphoric and you are so grateful to all the other members for being together for this. It is just fantastic and again I would call on new people to come down on a Wednesday night and give it a go, particularity a few more male voices.
