Brendan Ryan TD on the picket line at Oberstown this morning in support of the workers seeking improved safety conditions in the Oberstown youth detention centre campus.
Ryan "Any fears over staff safety and safety throughout the campus needs to be taken very seriously. I will be raising this with the Minister in charge Katherine Zappone and with the new board. It was regrettable to see Minister Zappone say that the staff had "no basis" to start strike action. The staff in Oberstown are among the most committed staff in the country and their decision to stage a short four hour work stoppage should be a signal to the Minister that she needs to pay close personal attention to improving the conditions for workers at Oberstown"
