Councillor Cathal Boland welcomed the Arts council award

Councillor Cathal Boland welcomed the Arts council award of €71K to Fingal, Wexford and Dublin city Arts for Public Art & Climate Change Project

This grant will further the Collaboration Scheme amongst Local Authorities along the east coast as they explore how arts can be used in developing awareness of climate change and biodiversity issues. This is the second phase of grant awards and follows on the last years research phase for which grant support of €15,520 was given.

This year’s grant support will enable a series of artists’ residencies. These artists will explore coastal discussions in Fingal, Dublin & Wexford between artists, communities, curators, biodiversity officers and academic specialists. The aim of this collaboration is to creatively highlight shared concerns on climate change influences and biodiversity of our east coast. The Collaboration also includes a partnership with UK Art & Ecology Commissioning Agency Invisible Dust.

Cllr Boland said “These is a great move by the Arts Council as it draws those involved in art to collaborate with Biodiversity specialists to creatively explore and raise awareness of Climate Change and how it affects our landscape. Initiatives such as this have real benefits to the whole community and affords all to learn and understand the bigger picture and encourage public engagement”.
