Fingal Social Democrats candidates prepare for 2019 Local Elections with candidates for Balbriggan and the new Lusk ward.

The Fingal Branch of the Social Democrats announced the nomination of Garrett Mullan and Paul Mulville, as candidates for the 2019 local elections. Speaking after the selection meeting, Mullan spoke of his excitement in presenting the Social Democrats to communities who are eager for change.

Mr Mullan said: “I am delighted to be nominated and look forward to meeting people over the coming months. Housing, social inclusion and our environment are the issues I want to bring to the council.”

He has been active in the local community over the years including the recent campaign to Repeal the 8th referendum as well as on local issues including representing the residents association in Cardy Rock.

Mulville (Rush-Lusk) and Mullan (Balbriggan) are hoping to represent their respective local electoral areas. With a history of local activism, both are eager to help tackle the wide range of issues affecting Fingal’s local communities.

With an emphasis on grassroots campaigning in the coming year, both will be making themselves available to their communities, with Mulville, a sitting councillor for the Social Democrats alongside Cian O' Callaghan from Howth Malahide ward, they will be hoping to increase representation on Fingal County Council.

Tracey Carey, our Dail candidate for Fingal reiterated the branch’s delight in having two excellent local candidates. She said she is "looking forward to working together to build a solid base for the Social Democrats in Fingal."
