Hamilton Park was originally opened by Mary Harney when she held the post of Minister for Health. Many families and friends also joined us for what was an exciting and fun filled day. Hamilton Park chefs Brian Kelly and John Mc Kenna had as per usual laid on a spread fit for a king. Live music was played by our regular entertainer Liam Bridgeman who played something for everyone’s music taste. There was standing room only as the many visitors joined their loved ones in celebrating this special occasion.

Our special guests were very impressed with the lavish surroundings that greeted them on their arrival. There was a pleasant ambiance as people mingled and chatted as Minister Mc Grath and Ms.O’Reilly TD were made feel very welcome. The empathetic minister took time to chat with many of our residents, some of whom live within the acquired brain injury unit, before embarking on a tour of the luxurious care facility which is home to 130 residents.

The Minister who has a long history of working with disadvantaged people has held this

post since May 2016. He values his independence as Minister of state for disability and has been involved in the Simon community as well as having held the post of chairperson for Down Syndrome Ireland. He is determined to use his time in the position of Minister of state for disability to secure much needed funding and services for those unfortunate enough to be living with a disability.

Mr. Raymond Dean who was the second resident to reside in Hamilton Park when it opened in 2007 presented the hospitable Minister with a beautiful crystal vase and was only too happy to inform every one of all the happy years he has spent in his “home from home”.

Resident Mary Maxwell presented Louise O’Reilly TD with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Hamilton Park management, residents and staff were delighted to have the opportunity to meet both the Minister and the TD on what was an exciting day for all concerned.

The 10th year of Hamilton Park has been one of the best by far as it has brought in a new management team, Lovella Valenzuela Director of Nursing, Susan Lee and Mel Uy Assistant Directors of Nursing who have extensive knowledge and understanding of the industry and excellent promotion of independence of young adults and the aging population.

The fantastic day had by all was organised by Operations Manager Susan Campbell and Activity Co-Ordinator Margaret Corry.
