Hampton Woods Balbriggan Entrance Tidy Up

Over the last number of months, neighbours within Hampton Woods. Took the initiative to start some proactive maintenance of the public area’s within the estate which consisted of grass verge cutting, shrub cutting and pruning and by far the biggest challenge was to clear the public area to the entrance of the estate of old shrubs and weeds.

Over a number of weekends a group of neighbours both adults and kids took to the

task armed with pick axes, shovels, spades and a lot of determination and effort. We successfully cleared the area of heavy weeds and old shrubs and levelled out the area. This was followed up with the planting over 60 plants and shrubs which were kindly donated by neighbours within the area.

The experience was hard work but thoroughly enjoyable with parents and kids alike getting involved in the clean-up and planting activities.

We have been very active in developing a community spirit within the estate which commenced with the setting up of an estate whatsapp group which was primarily set up for anti social and a neighbourhood watch which has developed into a real tool for the voice for the estate.

Over the coming months the plan is to continue with the improvement of the public area’s within the estate, tackle local anti-social issues, for example the playground at evening time, and most importantly organise fun events over the summer months and encourage more events for neighbours to get to know their neighbours.
