Ireland plays its first ever Test Match this weekend - John Mooney

John Mooney issued the below tribute today on his Instagram Account as Irish cricket looks forward to a historic weekend as Ireland plays its first ever Test Match against visiting Pakistan in Malahide. Pakistan was who Ireland famously beat in the 2007 World Cup.

"Tomorrow will see the start of Ireland as a test nation. I'm extremely proud of the role my home village of #balrothery has played in this great moment for Irish cricket.

It wasn't just as simple as playing a game, this was an #Englishsport cut down by the #GAA and almost despised by the whole country.

My family's passion and the passion of the #fingal people for cricket still amazes me, it's a shame we don't have a #fingal man in the team but #malahide will host the most important and significant few days in Irish crickets long history.

To all the great #fingal men and women who are not here to see this, I tip my (imaginary) hat to you all and hope you enjoy the occasion from up above #granda #unclekit #ranger #flash #joeclinton #jackharper #thebellies to name but a few..
