From Gormanston Army Camp:-
OUR PARISH, UKRAINIAN COLLECTION
Dear Parishioners and Local Families, As you are likely aware, the local Army Camp in Gormanston is this week due to welcome the first group of Ukrainian Refugees to the Reception Centre that has been established there. The Defence Forces are supplying housing, nutrition and medical care facilities. The Reception Centre will welcome people for a maximum stay of 48hrs before they will be relocated to more permanent housing, and it will be staffed by members of the Defence Forces. It will be principally women and children who will be accommodated in the camp. In order to welcome the people arriving here from a traumatic journey and situation of war, the Chapel in the Camp is being transformed into a supply centre for the refugees. Many parishioners and locals who have kindly offered to assist in whatever way possible. We aim to stock the chapel with as many necessary supplies as required, in order to furnish the people transiting through the camp with the basic necessities of life. If anyone is in a position to help by contributing items, the list (see below) has been approved for supply to the families. All assistance and donations will be gratefully received and will ease the transition of those arriving in our country. I take this opportunity to thank parishioners for their huge generosity and willingness to help. My thanks also to Fr Brendan, our parish schools and all in the parish for facilitating this collection.
