Who Remembers This Shop?
This is a group of Sunshiners, (deprived children mainly from Dublin who would spend a week in Sunshine House Balnriggan) in a local shop buying sweets. Can anyone name the shop, those behind the counter or anything else about the shop? This photo is throwing us a bit because its from a collection of mainly ’50’s and 60’s photos but in this photo we can see a packet of Skittles and they weren’t on sale till the early ‘70’s. The shop was located just down from the hotel, maybe 5 doors down. In fact you can see the pub windows ( De Brun’s) if you look out the door in this photo. Click to enlarge this photo. More tomorrow.
