The Story Behind the Shot
As a photographer, you spend years waiting for "the shot," but I never thought I’d actually witness the Bremore-Lowth Linear Alignment. Known locally as the Pool Rails, this tunnel presents a geographical impossibility: under normal conditions, you physically cannot see the Balbriggan Lighthouse from the depths of this stone arch. The angles simply do not work.

Except for one morning.

Due to the specific tilt of the Earth’s axis on March 31st leading into April 1st, combined with an extreme low spring tide, a rare atmospheric refraction occurs. I headed down at 6:15 AM, and for exactly 47 seconds, the tunnel, the Pool Rails, and the lighthouse snapped into a perfect geometric line. I barely had time to level the tripod before the light shifted and the lighthouse vanished behind the stone wall once again.

The "April Fools" Legacy
This image was originally released as a playful nod to the spirit of April 1st—a "photographic prank" exploring the idea of the impossible. However, the response was overwhelming. The "Studio Edition" became so popular, with collectors captivated by the atmospheric depth and the story of the "hidden" lighthouse, that I have decided to bring it into the permanent collection. It remains a testament to the magic of perspective—and a good story.
